To successfully achieve its mission, and short-term objectives and goals, the African Small and Medium Enterprise Finance and Investment Network (ASFIN)’s corporate strategies for the next five years (2022-2026) are to:
- Develop a strong corporate identity/image of, and position ASFIN to play active and meaningful roles at the regional and global levels for African SMEs financiers and investors’ leadership in socioeconomic renaissance as means for economic growth and human development across the continent.
- Create and foster improved linkages, understanding the learning among and between members, affiliates, stakeholders, policymakers, and other SME-led associations across the continent.
- Capacitate (build on the capacity of) ASFIN to become and remain an independent, effective, innovative and an efficient network of African SME’ financiers and key stakeholders, with relevant, accountable and professional ethics and standards.
- Develop the capacity of members, affiliates and other professionals and practitioners in the SME finance ecosystem across the continent to become competent and serve as resource individuals and institutions to respond to, and address the financing needs of SMEs in their respective regions and communities as embodiment of multi-stakeholder social responsibility and solidarity with the people and communities they serve.
- Embark on the implementation of professional ethics and standards in the SME finance ecosystem.
- Develop a ‘Strong Governance Structure’ within ASFIN based on ownership by and accountable to members, partners, policymakers, SMEs and the general public.
- Create an operational structure conducive to relevant activities - activity management by teamwork.
- Institute ‘Best Practices and a Learning and Sharing Culture’ in the work of ASFIN and among partners, affiliates, members, stakeholders, and policymakers.
- Ensure innovation, efficiency, and effectiveness in all marketing and related activities of ASFIN.
- Embark on creating and sustaining participatory-partnerships and strategic alliances and networks with sister SME finance associations and coalitions across the continent and abroad.
- Establish a competent management and workforce – with the technical expertise, experience, and skills to contribute to the realization of ASFIN’s vision and mission and goals.
- Stimulate continuous ‘Corporate Strategic Planning’ sessions to ensure that strategic and profound corporate policy documents are in place to guide the Network’s governance and provide strategic direction.
- Plan and implement ‘Accurate Planning and Budgeting Systems and Procedures’ to fine-tune in line with ASFIN’s core principles and values and general operations.
- Facilitate a ‘Continuous Monitoring and Evaluation for Impact Assessment’ on the role of ASFIN, its members, and specialized structures, initiatives, and programmes.
